In the office, Dr. Alexandra Kidd specializes in sexual health and menopause management. She offers bioidentical hormone therapies including creams, patches and hormone pellet therapy. She evaluates and manages pelvic pain and endometriosis. Dr. Kidd provides all contraceptive choices including the pill, IUDs (Mirena, Skyla and Paragard), Nuvaring, Implenon and Essure. Dr. Kidd provides well woman care, annual exams, breast exams, infection checks, and same day appointments.

In the operating room, Dr. Kidd performs minimally invasive laparoscopy and da Vinci Robotic surgery. She specializes in laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic myomectomy (fibroid removal), ovarian cyst removal, and diagnostic laparoscopy for pelvic pain including endometriosis. Dr. Kidd offers endometrial ablations to stop heavy or painful periods. Dr. Alexandra Kidd also performs vaginal rejeuvination including labiaplasty.

Dawn Copeland

Practitioner, Dawn Copeland, joined our practice in June 2021. While in nursing school, after witnessing a birth for the first time, Dawn was inspired and knew women's health was her calling. She is passionate about providing women with individualized, compassionate care, focusing on the whole woman and all her needs. With over 20 years specializing in women's health, Dawn has extensive experience with bioidentical hormone therapy, menopause management, Well Woman Care, contraception management, high risk obstetrics, and PCOS to name a few. Dawn is a board-certified Woman's Health Nurse Practitioner.

She attained her Master's of Science in Nursing at the University of Cincinnati in 2012, earning an induction into Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing for her academic excellence. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing at East Carolina University in 1999. She is a current member of Nurse Practitioner's in Women's Health (NPWH) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). In her spare time, Dawn enjoys spending time with her loved ones, riding her Drum horse Einar, or exploring the remote areas of the southwest in her Jeep.

McKenzie McDonough

McKenzie received a bachelor’s degree from Wilkes University in 2017 and spent three years working as a registered nurse on a high-risk obstetrics unit at one of the largest all women’s’ hospitals in Florida. It was there that her passion for women’s health was ignited. She went on to receive a master’s degree in 2020 from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and became a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner shortly thereafter.

McKenzie moved to Phoenix in 2020 to begin her WHNP career. She has professional experience providing continuous quality care to women of all ages and for all gynecologic needs. She is passionate about enriching women’s lives by enhancing their sexual and reproductive health. McKenzie prides herself on always listening to her patient’s concerns and loves developing trusting, long-lasting relationships with them. Furthermore, McKenzie can provide care to the Spanish speaking community as she’s lived and studied medical Spanish in Seville, Spain!

She is a current member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH) and specializes in the treatment and management of an array of sexual disorders. Estradiol and testosterone pellets are inserted in the fat layer under the skin of the hip and release hormone slowly over time, maintaining constant and reliable blood levels. The hormone levels gradually rise, peaking at 25 days, and then gradually reducing over the next few months.

Hormone Therapy mimics your pre-menopausal state of being. During a natural pre-menopausal state, ovaries make three types of estrogen as well as testosterone and progesterone. These hormones are maintained in a balance. Hormone pellet therapy is specifically designed to create pre-menopausal physiologic levels of estradiol and estrone, two of the three types of estrogen that are produced by the ovaries. Pellet therapy offers you the option of adding testosterone, which is produced by the ovaries along with estrogen before menopause.

Women who choose hormone pellet therapy find that they had forgotten how good they could feel. After suffering for years with difficult menopausal symptoms the relief is a welcome change. The actual process is quite simple. Pellet insertion is easy, quick, and relatively painless. A small area on the hip is sterilized and prepped with a local anesthetic. If irregular bleeding occurs on the continuous therapy we alter your regimen to a ten day a month pulse of progesterone, which causes a predictable monthly bleed.

Monitoring your progress insures a wonderful experience for you. Women receiving hormone pellets are asked to return to have blood levels measured in a few months. The results of these blood levels will be evaluated by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner and a recommendation will be made for timing and dosage of the next pellets.

We base our decisions about dosage and timing on symptoms as well. Some women feel better with higher levels of hormones than others. All factors are taken into account when developing a custom hormone pellet regimen to an individual woman. The point is that we tailor our approach to meet you unique needs.

We are happy to address changing conditions. If you experience hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness or inability to sleep before you are scheduled to come in for a blood hormone level, please move your appointment up. You may need your pellets sooner than anticipated. Several insurance companies are now paying in full or in part for hormone pellets. This office accepts insurance payment if the company chooses to cover, so all you pay is your co-pay. Generally, this is comparable to what you would spend on patches or other methods of hormone replacement every 4-6 months. This method of hormone therapy has proven to be both an effective solution and one that is simple and affordable enough to benefit all women.
